my
philosophy:
A good
song
highlights the rhythm of the words and children know instinctively what
a good
song is! (How many times have you heard “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” this
week?) I
believe that children ‘internalize’ rhythms and melodies through
movement and
speech and this is what fosters musicality and grace as they grow and
flourish.
As an added bonus, singing and chanting in a foreign language
introduces
children to other sounds and further reinforces a sense of rhythm –
music may or may not make kids any smarter, but it sure will make them
happier!
testimonials:
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed TOTSMOVE. Nedra
Bickham's unique combination of music and foreign
language led to a greater appreciation of both. My
son really enjoyed the German songs and sang them
outside of class on his own initiative. The songs all
have nice rhythms which makes them easy to remember.
