L'etat, c'est moi!

The ensemble's name was inspired by that period in France during the reign of Louis XIV - the Sun King (1643-1715) - le Grand Siècle  or the Splendid Century.  The ensemble's focus is on both splendid and rare chamber music of the 18th century, with special attention given to the transverse flute and the music of France (Rameau, Couperin, Hotteterre, Chauvon, Blavet, Philidor, Guillemain), Germany (J.S. Bach, Telemann, Graun, Kirnberger, Graupner, Quantz, Friederich the Great) Austria, and Italy (Vivaldi, Corelli, Ferandini, Platti)  - up to the pre-classic creations of C.P.E. Bach and his contemporaries.  We have recently expanded our repertoire to include the early Baroque ~ Ortiz, d'India, Strozzi, Froberger, Schenk, Frescobaldi.
We are currently booking for the 2006-2007 concert season.
